Flying the freelancer flag for York – news release

Issued: 7 February 2023

York-based businesswoman Helen Reynolds is a finalist in the renowned FSB Freelancer Of the Year awards (Yorkshire and The Humber). She founded Ink Gardener Copywriting in 2014 to create fresh digital content. Since then, her projects have included catapulting a British-made hamper company to the top of Google and revamping Durham Cathedral’s website.

“I’m so happy to be a finalist,” says York resident Helen. “Starting my own business was a steep learning curve. But I love being an extra pair of hands for small businesses and marketing agencies. Choosing York as my base was a fantastic decision, as the city’s business community has been so supportive and welcoming.”

As well as writing social media and web content, Helen offers website MOTs and practical training. She is a member of the Hiscox Business Club, founded the York Copywriters’ Coffee meet-ups, and delivers taster talks to groups such as Business Ladies Around Harrogate and York City Council’s Connect Over Coffee.

“Although I help businesses across the globe, most of my first clients were from Yorkshire,” says Helen. “These included a pet behaviourist on the Yorkshire Wolds, the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Dawnay Estates near Scarborough which is a few villages along from where I spent my teenage years,” says Helen.

The final of the FSB Awards takes place on 24 February in Leeds. “Curiosity is a strong driving force in my writing,” adds Helen, “so I’m really looking forward to meeting the other finalists who include a voiceover artist and a fashion designer!”
